May You Make Your Movie – May 26, 2021 – By bike through Zhengzhou

The work trip continues so I’ll use what I have available: a GoPro and a bike. Here’s a ride through the streets of Zhengzhou.

I know it seems rather simple to just do time lapses as I’m not really doing much, and I’d agree, but with this being a work trip there is limited time to spend on making what might be a “proper” movie. I generally bring a GoPro with me on every trip because they’re small and lightweight and the newer versions have a one-press record feature which is great too capture on the go shots.

You’ll notice that the time lapse looks a little choppy and that’s because I started the trip using a 5s(econd) interval and then switched to 2s. Finally, when I looked at the footage in FCX it still seemed a little too fast so I slowed it all down by 30% and 35% respectively. That seemed to do the trick as now you can actually see the city unfold throughout the ride rather than be made cross-eyed by a barrage of photos.

Everything was shot in 4K, 30 fps (which maybe I should have set to 24 or 25).

Soundtracked in FCX as well and I think I’m running out of usable stock music in the program. I might actually have to create something on my own next time!
