May You Make Your Movie – May 16, 2021 – Droning around Changping

One flight, one take, this vid is from 2019 but it’s so nice to watch that I didn’t want to cut it up. Like a bird in the air, this silent flight is simply nice to see.

This was a simple vid to make only because I left it completely as is. Most of the flight is pretty smooth except towards the end where I get closer to the water. In the original version I posted I didn’t have a soundtrack but I’ve since re-done the video and have added some background sound in FCX.

Shot on Mavic Pro 2 using 4K, 25 fps. Auto exposure and white balance. Titles added in FCX.

The park where I took this video is in the Changping District, which is in the northwestern part of Beijing, very close to the Ming Tombs. It’s one of the closest places you can fly a drone near the city. Here’s a look at the GeoSafe map around Beijing:

DJI’s geosafe map around Beijing. You can’t fly in the red zones.

And to zoom in to where I was flying, I was in BaifuWenDi Park in Changping District, though I think the northern part of the park is called Beilin:

And a closer look at the lake area:

白浮泉温地公园 (Bái fú quán wēn de gōngyuán) nearby Nanshao subway station.

It was rather hot out that day so there weren’t too many other people in the park so I didn’t have to worry about safety too much. I mostly had to concern myself about hitting trees or having the drone drop into the lake.

That’s about it. Just a long, peaceful, drone shot over a park setting. I was going to edit it but I really like the soft turns. I think it’s rather cinematic.
