May You Make Your Movie – May 10, 2021 – Moving Pictures

Another video composed with pictures. This time, however, I wanted to see if there was an APP for that.

Turns out, there is. There are several APPs, as I’m sure you are already well aware. But which one to use? Should I pay? Do I have to? What would be the easiest thing to do?

For today’s challenge I wanted to see how much I could do with just an APP. Using the Movepic APP, I was able to create some neat effects with some still images I’ve taken from my travels in China. The drawback of this APP, however, is that to get the HD or higher versions I would have to pay. I opted for the free version for now so I’m stuck with 720p for this video.

Movepic APP.

I used a few different effects, mostly camera moves and some animation effects, and one or two dispersion effects. I adjusted some of the saturation, contrast and sharpness of the photos and then exported to a .mp4 file.

I would’ve published them as is but I wanted to stitch them together to make one video. I probably could’ve used an APP to edit them together but I wouldn’t have been able to add royalty free music. So, I decided to use FCX instead.

Movepics files imported into FCX.

I imported all of the images into FCX, applied a mask, doubled them up to give them that background effect, and then applied multiple levels of colour correction, including Vibrancy and Hard Contrast.

All of the effects and masks I applied in FCX.

Some fades and the a soundtrack from the sound library in FCX (Celestial Body) and exported the final version.

Given that the video is only at 720p resolution, I’m a bit determined to find a way to replicate these effects using the bigger software I have. However, if someone does not have access to the same sort of software, then it seems likely you can create some pretty interesting videos just using your phone.
